Open Question: I need some money advice for a college freshman?

I will be a freshman in college this coming fall... I have some major issues, and if you answer one or all of them, i would be forever greatful!

#1. I was told that there was a way i could void my step dad's tax information on the fafsa since he didn't adopt me...is this true? how do i go about it if it is?

#2. I want to file independantly next year meaning i would be paying for my own health and car insurance...any advice on which companys to go with? or should i file dependantly? my parent's can't help me with college at all...

#3. is there any way i could get some more money for college? my parent's have no way of giving me any money for college, but the fafsa said they could give me $16,000 a year... all i have is a $3,500 scholarship for all of next year...

answer one of them...all of them...whatever floats your boat, but i would love to have your advice! thank you!

Open Question: A doctor's office owe's me money and won't pay. What can I do?

When I went in, they charged me too much for my co-pay, which I even mentioned it was too much, and later got an E.O.B. in the mail explaining I was right and they need to refund me $40. I know its not a lot, but hey, it's mine! Anyhow, the office lady is extremely rude (saying outrageous comments, even cursing at me, and won't let me speak to the doc). I've filed a complaint with the insurance company, but they still won't pay me back! It's been months and they are so sarcastic and I think they find it amusing or something to treat me this way. It's so bizarre! I've never had a health care office do this!!! Is there any other way to get my money back?
